🍕 Official Pizza Eating Contest Rules

1. The Objective

The winner is the competitor who consumes the greatest amount of pizza slices within a timed 10-minute period.

2. Eligibility and Registration

• Age Requirement: All participants must be 18 years of age or older.
• Waiver: Every competitor must sign a health and liability waiver prior to sitting at the competition table.
• Entry Fee: $5 must be paid upon registration.

3. The Food and Beverage

• The Pizza: All competitors will be served the exact same style of pizza, traditional crust cheese.
• Standardization: Pizzas will be cut into equal slices to ensure fairness.
• Beverages: Competitors will be provided with unlimited water. No other beverages are permitted during the contest.

4. Competition Rules

• The Start: Competitors must keep their hands flat on the table until the official starting signal. False starts may result in a time penalty.
• Eating Standards:
  • The entire slice, including the crust, must be consumed for it to count.
  • Judges will inspect plates to ensure no excessive crumbs or hidden pieces remain.
• Dunking: Competitors are permitted to dunk their pizza in water to aid in swallowing, but the pizza may not be submerged for more than 5 seconds. 
• Utensils: No utensils are allowed. This is a hands-only competition.
• Debris: Competitors must keep their eating area relatively clean. Dropping large amounts of pizza on the floor intentionally will result in deductions.

5. Time Called and "Chipmunking"

• The Finish: When the 10-minute timer expires, competitors must immediately put down any un-eaten pizza.
• Chipmunking: Any pizza already inside the competitor's mouth when time is called will count toward their final total, provided they can successfully swallow it within 30 seconds of the buzzer.

6. Disqualifications

• Reversal of Fortune: Any competitor who suffers a "reversal of fortune" (vomiting or regurgitating) during the 10-minute contest, or within a 2-minute observation period immediately following the contest, will be instantly disqualified.
• Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Interfering with another competitor, arguing with judges, or throwing food will result in immediate removal from the competition.

7. Judging and Tie-Breakers

• Final Count: Judges will count the remaining pizza to determine the exact amount eaten. The judges' rulings are final.
• Tie-Breaker: In the event of a tie, the tied competitors will face off in an "Eat-Off." They will be given one standard slice of pizza. The first person to completely consume and swallow the slice wins.

Please read this document carefully before signing. By signing this document, you are assuming all risks associated with participating in this event and waiving certain legal rights, including the right to sue.

1. ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK

I, the undersigned participant, fully understand and acknowledge that participating in a competitive eating contest is a potentially hazardous activity. I understand that the risks include, but are not limited to:

• Choking, gagging, or vomiting

• Food allergies or adverse physical reactions to ingredients (e.g., dairy, gluten, spices)

• Gastrointestinal distress, indigestion, heartburn, or stomach rupture

• Injury or illness resulting from the rapid consumption of large quantities of food

• Other unforeseen medical emergencies, up to and including permanent injury or death.

I acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in this Event with full knowledge of the inherent risks involved, and I hereby expressly and specifically assume all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the Releasees (defined below) or others.

2. MEDICAL CERTIFICATION

I certify that I am at least 18 years of age. I represent and warrant that I am in good health and proper physical condition to safely participate in this Event. I certify that I have no known medical conditions, food allergies, or dietary restrictions that would make my participation hazardous to my health. I agree that it is my sole responsibility to determine whether I am physically capable of participating in this Event.

3. RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Event, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, personal representatives, and assigns, hereby unconditionally and irrevocably release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Sullivan County Tennessee Fair Inc/Domino's, the venue owner, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, judges, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (collectively referred to as the "Releasees"), from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me, or to any property belonging to me, whether caused by the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise, while participating in the Event or while on the premises where the Event is being conducted.

4. MEDICAL TREATMENT AUTHORIZATION

In the event of an injury or medical emergency, I authorize the Organizers and their designated representatives to secure emergency medical care, first aid, or transportation to a medical facility as they deem necessary. I agree to assume all costs associated with such emergency medical treatment and transportation, and I release the Releasees from any liability regarding the provision or failure to provide such medical care.

5. PUBLICITY RELEASE

I hereby grant the Organizers and their sponsors the irrevocable right and permission to photograph, record, and use my name, image, voice, and likeness in any media (including social media, promotional materials, and video broadcasts) in connection with the Event, without compensation, prior review, or approval.

6. ADHERENCE TO RULES

I agree to read, understand, and fully comply with all official rules of the Event. I understand that failure to follow the rules or instructions of the judges/organizers may result in my immediate disqualification and removal from the Event without refund.

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS WAIVER, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT. I FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT.
